Foundation & Creation Of Shockwave Defense:
Defense has been part of the lifestyle in the Johnson family for over 3 generations. Defense training originated in the Johnson lineage in the early 1920’s with Samual K. Johnson who held a Black Belt Mastership in Combat Judo, Combat Jujitsu Okinawa/Korean: Karate in Judo & Ju-jitsu. He began training Steven A. Johnson at the age of 11. Earning his first black belt at the age of 16.
Steven A. Johnson went on to earn 7 additional black-belts. He was most recognized by national, and international magazines such as Blackbelt Magazine, for his training and personal friendship with the late increible Bruce Lee. From 1967-1969 he lived and trained at Bruce’s Lee’s home. Shortly after Bruce Lee’s untimely death in 1973 Steven A. Johnson continued his training in the roots of Jeet Kune Do under GrandMaster Yip Chun in Kowloon China. In addition he was an instructor at the Philadelphia Police Academy, Willow Grove, Upper Moreland, Lower Moreland, Upper Dublin, Hatboro, and Abington Police Departments, in Pennsylvania.
Michael C. Johnson began his first kicks at age 2 training under his father Steven A. Johnson when he would hold classes for his students in his garage on Thursday nights. Michael C. Johnson went on to earn to 9 additional black belts, a Bachelors Degree in Criminology, and a Minor in Political Science from the University of New Mexico. His continued interest defensive tactics led him Hock Hockheim, who referred Michael Johnson to Tim Tackett, where he continues his studies in Jeet Kune Do. Several of his world renound instructors such as Steven Grody, Erick Lamb, and Bryan Schnell are proud to see the growth and formulation of what Johnson has done with Shockwave Defense.
Johnson currently consults a wide variety of clientele including unique individuals in local, & federal law enforcement, Hostage Rescue, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Secret Service, Army Rangers, I.C.E, Corporate Executives, as well as law abiding citizens.
